Description: Much of Maureen Seamonds’ work is sculptural, undulating form reminiscent of many natural forms of the earth, including rock formations, the movement of ocean waves and the sculpting of desert sands and snowdrifts by the wind. The very material she uses is of the earth and formed by the artist’s hands to create the same undulating form and motion of the earth. These features are easily recognized in this work, Echoes from the Canyon Dark Revisited, which, as many of her works are, is also suggestive of human form. The combination of natural and human form in Seamonds’ work reminds the viewer of the deep spiritual connection we all have with the earth.
